Betong, Sarawak. Fieldwork conducted during COVID-19 examining the digital divide and learning efficiency. This research was funded by DUN36, Sarawak, under YB Dato’ Gerald Rentap Jabu, and its findings informed targeted interventions to support local students and teachers.

2026: Topic Expert, “Social Media Governance, Moderation, and State Power in Southeast Asia,” panel organized by The Southeast Asia Exchange, a student-led initiative founded by Southeast Asians at Yale, Stanford, Harvard, and Duke. The discussion examines how governments and social media companies shape online speech in one of the world’s most socially connected regions, where platforms are central to news, politics, and civic discourse.

Delivered expert guidance on leveraging social media platforms for effective crisis communication and disaster response.

2024: Trainer and Content Developer, OSU-Mexico, July 16-August 5, 2024. Appointed as key personnel for development of Media and Information Literacy training as funded by US Embassy Mexico.

2024: Trainer and Speaker, “KLICK dengan Bijak Clinic/Click Wisely Clinic”, Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia, July 25, 2024. Spearheaded a specialized media information literacy training session targeting housewives and elderly residents, in collaboration with JomCheck and University Kebangsaan Malaysia.

2023: Trainer and Speaker, “Gendered mis/disinformation,” FACTS Asia, August 23, 2023. Led a session about the gender-specific aspects of information manipulation and its societal impacts, with a focus on the Majority World/Global South.

2022: Keynote Speaker, “Strategic use of social media for governance and policy communication in Malaysia” and “Protecting democracy through combating mis and disinformation in Malaysia.” Asian Conference for Political Communication, organized by Konrad Adenauer Stiftung at St. Regis Singapore. 

2022: Speaker, “Disinformation and Democracy in Malaysia.” Seminar: Democracy in Asia, organized by Brookings Institution, Washington DC.

Presented my analysis on the impact of disinformation on Malaysian democracy in Washington, DC. This analysis was later published by the Brookings Institution as part of the Democracy in Asia report.

2022: Communication Consultant and Trainer, Sarawak State Government, Malaysia, Summer 2022. Selected to serve as a communication consultant specializing in Indigenous Leadership and Communication.

As an Indigenous scholar of Iban and Jatti Miriek heritage, one of my commitments is to give back to communities in Sarawak. With support from DUN 36 and YB Gerald Jabu, I was invited to deliver a leadership lecture to Indigenous community leaders, primarily tuai rumah from Iban longhouses across Sarawak.

2021: Topic Expert, “Introduction to Media and Information Literacy,” UNESCO and National University of Malaysia. December 15, 2021. Contributed to UNESCO’s global initiative to enhance digital citizenship and critical thinking skills.

2020: Trainer, “Academic Writing Workshop,” Shah Alam, Malaysia, February 11, 2020. Led an intensive workshop at the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, Universiti Teknologi MARA, focusing on enhancing scholarly writing skills for academic success and publication.
